Below is access information for Fenagh Visitor & Fenagh Community Centre. This information is correct as of November 2023. Can I travel to the venue using public transport?

  • Fenagh Visitor Centre – The Number 564 bus which travels between Carrick-on-Shannon and Ballinamore passes through Fenagh Village. The bus stop is outside Fenagh National School and the Visitor Centre is a 400 meter walk from the National School.   • Fenagh Community Centre – The Number 564 bus which travels between Carrick-on-Shannon and Ballinamore passes through Fenagh Village. The bus stop is outside Fenagh National School and the Community Centre is 2.1km from the National School / a 30 minute walk. There is no public transport from Fenagh Village to the Community Centre.

Is there disabled parking and how many spaces are available? Can I book a space?

  • Fenagh Visitor Centre – There is parking available at Fenagh Visitor Centre, but there are no demarcated lines and there are no designated accessible parking spaces. It is possible to reserve a parking space close to the entrance.
  • Fenagh Community Centre – The is one accessible parking space available, which is situated directly outside St. Mary’s Church (next to Fenagh Community Centre). It is not possible to reserve a parking space.

Is there wheelchair access to the building and to the event, like ramps and lifts?

  • Fenagh Visitor Centre – The main entrance to the Visitor Centre involves a step and tight right turn plus opening a door. There is a ramped entrance with an emergency exit door (the door opens outwards). The Visitor Centre is single story so there is no lift.
  • Fenagh Community Centre – The main entrance to Fenagh Community Centre is wheelchair accessible. The door opens outwards. There is also a ramp at the side of the building with a button entrance, the door opens outwards. There is no lift to the small meeting room on the second floor. The stage is also up a set of stairs with no lift option.

Is there somewhere to borrow a wheelchair or other mobility aids?

  • There are no wheelchairs or other mobility aids available to borrow at Fenagh Community or Visitor Centres.

Is there a quiet room?

  • Fenagh Visitor Centre – The café/ exhibition space is usually much quieter than the soft play area, and the doors to this room can be closed. Please note, there may be café customers, exhibition viewers or historical tour goers using this space.
  • Fenagh Community Centre – There is no quiet room that is always available, but the upstairs meeting room can be used as a quiet room if it is not in use for another purpose. Please note, this room is only accessible via a flight of stairs.

Is the café area accessible?

  • Fenagh Visitor Centre – the café is accessible.
  • Fenagh Community Centre – there is no café, but there are kitchen facilities for community use. These facilities are not accessible.

Are the toilets accessible? If so, what size are the toilets and what equipment is available?

  • Fenagh Visitor Centre – there is an accessible toilet. The toilet is 196cm x 150cm size and features: hand rails, a low sink and raised hand-dryer, an easy to use tap.
  • Fenagh Community Centre – there is an accessible toilet. The toilet is 235cm x 235cm size and features: hand rails, a raised toilet seat, a low sink and hand-dryer, an accessible door way, handle and lock, an easy to use tap and bin, and an emergency alarm cord. Please note, there is also a shower space in this toilet.
