25 Cards

25 continues this Thursday at 8.30pm in Fenagh Visitor Centre as usual. Last week’s winner was Lorcan Masterson with a tie for second place. New players always welcome

Connacht Wallball Champions

Huge congratulations to Sophie and Abbie Kane who  both were successful in their respective age categories in the Connacht Wallball finals held in Kilglass at the weekend.

Abbie played on Saturday and overcame several players to reach the final where she met Roscommons Aoibh Johnson. The courts were cleared for the final on centre court and the attention of the large audience didn’t phase Abbie. She played some fantastic handball to claim the U12 Gold medal.  U12 doesn’t go to All Ireland level so Abbie goes no further and spends the next year as Connacht Onewall Champion, well done Abbie. On Saturday Sophie came through her first round to return on Sunday she powered through three more games to reach the final. Again as the courts were all cleared Sophie was very much on the back foot against Kilglass’s Niamh Hall in her own home turf who had the large crowd behind her. Sophie rose to the occasion and took the gold medal  in in two straight sets. She now goes on to play in the All Ireland Semi Final against Ulster opposition in two weeks time, again to be held in Kilglass. Katie played the Minor Girls final in Sunday evening. Katie started off strong but with games at this level to 21 and Katie only returning from injury her fitness wasn’t as it should be and she was defeated in two straight sets. She plays minor again next year , hard luck Katie. Daniel reached quarterfinal level in boys u16 , an extremely competitive and tough  grade. He battled hard and played some great handball but it just wasnt his day and he was defeated by Mayo opposition. A fantastic weekend for Leitrim Handball and especially for Fenagh Handball.  Well done to all.

Fenagh Tidy Towns – Recycle Bin
Our weekly work sessions continue Tuesday at 6.30pm – meet at the Visitor Centre. Thanks to all who continue to use the Orange bin at Corrib Oil for R-eturn recyclables – please note the bin is specifically for items with the Re-turn logo, regular and other recyclable waste should go in normal bins; our volunteers have had to remove a lot of regular rubbish from the Orange bin bags recently. Thank you.
