Brendan Beirne – Fenagh Handball Club

We were all very saddened to hear of the passing of the late Brendan Beirne. Brendan was a great handballer in his day. He was involved as an administrator of our club from the 60’s up to his recent illness. He was also  the driving force behind the building of the new alley complex in Fenagh, raising thousands of euro on his own. He loved to attend the all Ireland’s in Croke Park especially to watch his idol Duxie Walsh from Kilkenny…. sadly both now gone from us. He had great pride in coaching the children in the new alley and taking them to competitions all over the country. His loss will be felt by our club and indeed the wider handball community in Leitrim and beyond. We offer our heartfelt sympathies to his sister Gretta Fanning, his brother in law JP and all his nieces, nephews and friends. May he rest in peace.
